At that time, about eight thousand Rajput warriors were ready to fight the Mughal army along with Rana Sanga in the fort of Chittor. Akbar took about a month to lay siege to the huge fort of Chittor built on a steep hill.
Spiral beehives and 'sabat' were also made for the cover of the front men. Two tunnels from the side of the hill almost reached the foothills of the fort, in which a large quantity of gunpowder was filled and exploded.

Here Rana Uday Singh Jaimal Rathore, Patta Sisodiya and other prominent feudal lords left the responsibility of protecting the fort and went to a safe place in the nearby mountains along with their queens and other family members.
